Nambu Tekki (cast iron) crafts began in the Iwate Prefecture over 400 years ago in this iron-rich region.  Contemporary artists have continued to use the same process to create these incredible works of art.  Many of these mini-sculptures double as functional household tools.  Simple, elegant and serene, these pieces are the epitome of the Japanese aesthetic.
